Displays and announcements driven by the same live data, so what passengers see on a screen and hear over the speakers always match.
TAP supplies, installs and integrates the visual and audio equipment that keeps passengers informed across stations and vehicles: dynamic passenger information displays at station entrances and platforms, interior and exterior displays on board, digital signage, and a complete IP-based Public Announcement System.
Displays and announcements are driven by the same live operational data, so what passengers see on a screen and what they hear over the speakers always match. Every device is networked, centrally managed and monitored from the control center, from the content on a single platform display to an emergency announcement across the whole network.
Overview
Complete Channels & Sources
TAP delivers passenger information through two coordinated channels. Both draw on the same real-time data and are managed from the same central platform.
Dynamic Passenger Information Displays
High-brightness LED and LCD displays at stations and on vehicles present arrivals, routes, destinations and service messages.
- Station entrance displays
- Platform and docking-bay displays
- On-board interior displays
- On-board exterior destination displays
- Digital signage and advertising displays
Public Announcement System
An IP-based audio network of microphones, amplifiers, speakers and intercoms delivers live and automatic announcements.
- IP speakers with Power over Ethernet
- Paging microphones and push-to-talk handsets
- Passenger help-point intercoms
- Amplifiers with ambient-noise compensation
- On-board PA speakers and driver microphone
Public Announcement System
Clear, Timely Announcements Across the Network
TAP’s Public Announcement System is built on an all-IP audio architecture. Every speaker, microphone and intercom is a network device, so announcements can be made locally at a station, centrally from the control center, or automatically from live service data.
Automatic Arrival Announcements
A chime followed by a high-quality digital voice announcement gives the route, destination and platform just before each vehicle arrives.
Live Paging
Station staff and control-center operators make live announcements to selected zones through paging microphones and push-to-talk handsets.
Emergency & Evacuation Messages
Pre-recorded and live emergency messages take precedence over all other audio, station-wide or network-wide.
Service & Scheduled Messages
Service changes, public service information and scheduled messages are broadcast to the zones where they apply.
Audio Quality and Control
- Ambient-noise sensing and automatic level control
- Day and night volume profiles
- Click and feedback suppression
- Bilingual Urdu and English announcements
Zoning
Every Area Addressed Separately
Speakers are grouped into zones by entrance, concourse and platform docking bay. Each zone can be addressed on its own or together with others, from the station or from the control center.
Zone 1 · Entrance
- IP speakers
- Entrance display
- Help-point intercom
Zone 2 · Concourse
- IP speakers
- Paging microphone
- Gate-line coverage
Zones 3+ · Platform Docking Bays
- Local control: station paging microphone or push-to-talk handset
- Central control: control-center workstation, any zone or all zones
Broadcast Priority
A Defined Priority Scheme for Every Announcement
When announcements compete for the same zone, the system pre-empts lower-priority audio automatically, so critical messages are always heard first. The priority order is configurable to each operator’s procedures.
1
Control Center & Emergency
Announcements from the control center, including emergency and evacuation messages, override all other audio.
2
Local Live Announcements
Station staff announcements through paging microphones and push-to-talk handsets.
3
Automatic Arrival Announcements
Chime and voice announcements generated from live arrival predictions.
4
Scheduled & Information Messages
Routine service, public information and scheduled messages.

Display Capabilities
Built for Legibility and Control
Every TAP passenger information display is specified to remain readable, secure and centrally manageable in public transport environments.
Readable in Any Light
High-brightness, wide-viewing-angle LED and LCD panels with integrated ambient light sensors adjust brightness automatically, keeping information legible from early morning to night and across typical platform viewing distances.
Bilingual and Graphical Content
Displays present messages in Urdu and English, simultaneously or alternately, with full graphics, route strip maps and split-screen layouts that show trip information alongside news, public service messages or advertising.
Tamper-Resistant Construction
Displays are housed in tamper-proof enclosures with toughened, anti-glare glass, specified for continuous operation in stations and vehicles.
Self-Reporting and Remote Management
On start-up each display identifies itself and its location to the central system and then reports its status continuously. Faults are reported automatically, and out-of-service displays can be reassigned from the control center.

Driven by Live Data, Managed Centrally
Displays and announcements are fed by the TAP Passenger Information System, which calculates arrival predictions from live vehicle data. On board, displays and announcements are triggered by the vehicle location unit as the bus approaches each stop.
From control-center workstations, operators manage display content, send messages to selected displays and speakers, and override any device in an emergency.
